Ryan’s Music Picks 🎄 Christmas 2017 Edition

It’s been a while. I have long playlists for September, October, November, and December. I’ll put them up one day.

Anyway, I am compelled to share new Christmas albums I’ve found this year. Only a couple of them are on the streaming services, so no playlists this time.

Jherek Bischoff – Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire Walk with Me (Bandcamp only)
Six classic Christmas songs done in the style of Angelo Badalamenti’s Twin Peaks soundtrack. Instrumental, complete with saxaphone. Surprisingly perfect.

Said Fantasy – Carols Gloria (Bandcamp only)
Ronnie Martin of Joy Electric turns four sparse instrumental synthesized carols and one original song that’s up there with some of his most classic tracks.

Excelsis vol. 1: A Dark Noel (Bandcamp, Apple Music, Spotify)
A slow, dark, gothy Christmas album from 1995; it’s perfect for those long dark nights around the solstice.

The Eagle & Child – O Christmas vol. II (Apple Music, Spotify)
A quieter release than last years’, this collection of hymns is still joyous and full of heart and hopes for the season.
